ROCHESTER - Charles C. Kiehl Jr., died Sunday, September 4, 2016, at the age of 91. He was born January 15, 1925, to the late Bertha and Charles C. Kiehl, Sr., in Kittery, Maine, graduating from RW Traip Academy in 1942. He served in the Navy during WWII, and later graduated from Wentworth Institute in Boston, as well as completing the apprenticeship program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He retired from General Electric in Somersworth in 1988, after 37 years in the Engineering Department. He was predeceased by Priscilla, his wife of 52 years, as well as his sister Helen and brother Lester. He is survived by his two children: Diana Lavoie and husband Ray of Pembroke, N.H.; David Kiehl and wife Eileen of Bel Aire, Kan.; four grandchildren: Rachel Whitson and husband Kyle of Manchester; Jacob Kiehl and wife Alex of Wellington, Kan.; Brian Lavoie and Terrie Meyer of Concord, N.H.; Stephanie Kiehl of Wichita, Kan.; three great-grandchildren: Noah, Cooper and Kiander; and his sister Elinor Hannigan of Eliot, Maine. In his later years, he enjoyed long walks, playing cards and chess with friends, and reading. His last months were made comfortable by the kind and caring staff at The Gafney Home.
