ROCHESTER -- Students and staff at Rochester's Chamberlain Street School had a unique opportunity to share a morning with local veterans at the school's annual Veterans Day celebration last week.
On Friday, Nov. 8, members of the school community shared breakfast with veterans from the area, then hosted them for a special ceremony to thank them for their service to the nation.
During the breakfast, students had a chance to speak directly with the veterans in attendance and learn more about their military service, which spanned across eras -- from Vietnam to the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"This is one of the best things we do each year at Chamberlain," Principal Mark Campbell said. "It's important for our students to take the time to show their gratitude and pay their respects for our country's real heroes."
The students were joined by 35 veterans, approximately 2/3 of whom are related to students or staff.
