SOMERSWORTH - A 34-year-old Berwick, Maine, man is facing an arraignment next week in Dover District Court after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a city residence on Saturday, resulting in his arrest on DUI charges.
Somersworth Police got involved after getting a report that a Blackwater Road residence had been struck by a vehicle. A preliminary investigation revealed the operator, Jeremy Phillips, of 45 School St., Berwick, was operating a 2012 Jeep Liberty on High Street when he attempted to turn onto Blackwater Road, collided with a 2006 Nissan X-Terrra and jumped a median before accelerating and driving into the residence at 1 Blackwater Road.
Phillips was found unconscious by first responders and transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for treatment, according to a Tuesday press release.
Based upon the facts and evidence responding officers developed probable cause that Phillips was operating the vehicle while impaired. He was charged with one count of Driving Under the Influence and released on his own personal recognizance pending an arraignment in Dover District Court next Wednesday.
This case is still under investigation as laboratory analysis is required to determine what, if any substance(s), Phillip's ability to operator a vehicle was impaired by.
