Beaulieu wins at-large school board seat; Winship grabs spot on Police Commission

ROCHESTER - Matt Beaulieu won the city's lone at-large school board seat and David Winship Jr. edged out two challengers to gain a spot on the city's Police Commission in two of the major municipal votes held on Tuesday.

Beaulieu defeated Tracy Walbridge, 2,384-1,532, while Winship's 529 votes bested challengers Chuck Grassie and James E. Clark, 463 and 262, respectively.

Winship now joins Derek Peters, who was unopposed; and David Stevens, who beat Rebecca Behr, 1022-578, on the board.

Seat B Matthew Pappas defeated Christine Gianotti, 319-265

Seat A Shane Downs defeated Pamela Colon, 386-253

Seat B Anne Grassie defeated James Connor Sr. 375-335

Seat A Karen Stokes defeated Jennifer McGeehan, 315-238

Seat B Paul Lynch defeated Tabatha Davis and Robert Gates, 234 to 167 and 155, respectively

Ward 6

Seat A Thomas O'Connor ran unopposed

Seat B Donna Ellis ran unopposed

Voter turnout on Tuesday was dismal, with just 25 percent of registered voters going to the polls compared to 70 percent for last November's general election.

The Nov. 2, 2020, vote comprised 17,163 ballots, compared to Tuesday's 4,469.
