ROCHESTER - The City of Rochester recently announced that Mike George has been promoted to the position of Fire Chief for the City of Rochester. George officially took over the reins on Sunday.

"Mike is incredibly dedicated and is a well-respected leader both within the organization and throughout the Rochester community," said City Manager Katie Ambrose. "These qualities paired with his experience, integrity, and proven leadership in Rochester made him an excellent candidate for Fire Chief."

George has been in the fire service for 34 years and a member of the Rochester Fire Department for 23 years, serving as Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Fire Chief.

Former Fire Chief Dennis Dube's retirement became effective on Saturday. He retired after serving Rochester for more than 27 years. He was promoted to Fire Chief in 2022.
