ROCHESTER - The Spaulding High School Scholarship Committee recently awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships during its annual presentation.

The awards were distributed through more than 20 different scholarships held by the Trustees of the Trust Funds for the City of Rochester.

The Trustees of the Trust Funds serve as custodians of the City’s perpetual care funds, charitable trusts, and capital reserve and expendable trust funds. The Trustees oversee the expenditure of these funds in accordance with donor wishes in the case of privately donated funds and distribute capital reserve and expendable trust funds to the appropriate government officials upon request.

According to Trustee Brett Johnson, the scholarship program reflects the lasting impact of community members who established funds to support future generations of Spaulding High School graduates.

“It’s an honor to continue our guardianship of more than 20 scholarship funds entrusted to the City of Rochester for the benefit of Spaulding High School graduates," johnson said. "As Trustees, we play a small but meaningful role in preserving the legacy of the families who established these funds and in recognizing the hard work and achievement of each year’s recipients. A big thanks goes out to Trustee Jerry Rainville and all members of the Spaulding High School Scholarship Committee for their hard work in selecting the recipients.”
