BEDFORD - A Nashua woman died and a Litchfield man was injured early today when the car they were in crashed on I-293 in Bedford.

The single-vehicle crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. on I-293 North near mile marker 4 where troopers found that a 2016 GMC Terrain had crashed into the nose portion of the guardrail on the right side of the roadway and subsequently veered off to the left, striking a concrete jersey barrier.

Troopers attempted to render aid to the driver and passenger who were both unconscious upon their arrival.

Both the driver, Brianna E. Sullivan, 36, and Julio A. Lopez, 36, were taken to Eliot Hospital where Sullivan died and Lopez was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

All aspects of the crash are under investigation, but police said preliminary findings indicate that alcohol and distracted driving are both factors.

The left travel lane remained closed for around two hours while State Police personnel processed the scene.
