ACTON, Maine - An Acton man was arrested on Saturday after police say he entered an apartment building and sexually assaulted a sleeping child.

Keith Poole, 22, was charged with unlawful sexual contact and burglary, both felonies.

York County Sheriff's deputies responded to the incident around 4 a.m. and found that an unknown man who also lived in the same apartment complex had entered the 9-year-old boy's residence and sexually assaulted the sleeping boy causing him to wake up.

A statement from the York County Sheriff's Department indicated that after a brief conversation between the victim and the intruder, the intruder fled.

After a brief investigation it was determined that a resident in another unit of the building was the intruder. Poole was interviewed and arrested.

Poole is being held at the York County Jail with a bail of $5,000 on the unlawful sexual contact and another $5,000 for the burglary because he allegedly entered the boy's premises without permission.

His initial arraignment is set for York Superior Court in February.
