A sail into Windjammers will sit most agreeably with captain and crew

ROCHESTER - When you go to Windjammers you expect their seafood to be among the best in the city, but the broiled salmon I had on Thursday was impeccable, topping similar dishes at higher-priced restaurants anywhere.

They'll top if with either a classic or Cajun seasoning, both scintillating, but the true delectability of this plate was the juicy, perfectly consistent texture of the fish, itself, beautifully pink and seemingly fall-away flaky at the mere presence of a fork.

Combine the salmon with their renowned heaping helping of redskin mashed potatoes and coleslaw that rivals any, and you have a winner you'll come back for time and time again.

And if you're lucky (or unlucky) enough to be of mature standing, it's just $13.99, including coffee or fountain drink, bread and dessert.

Martha had the Fried Clam Strips ($10.99), which were ensconced in an incredibly light and delicate batter that almost had a tempura feel.

The clam strips were plentiful and tasty.

The amount of strips was very generous, as was the french fries, which were crispy with nary a greasy feel or taste.

She also gave high marks for the warmed round table loaf of bread that accompanies most lunch or dinner entres.

Trust me, every senior citizen in Rochester knows this already. We're just trying to pass it on to the young'uns.
