ROCHESTER - Wilfred J. "Fritzie" Caplette, 87, of 214 Old Dover Road died Sunday April 20, 2014, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth after a brief period failing health.

Born Dec. 1, 1926 in Gonic, he was the son of the late Oliver J. and Delvina (Lacriox) Caplette Roulx. He was a lifelong resident of Rochester and was a self employed carpenter. He served in the Navy during World War II. Fritzie was a member of the Club Victoire and a longtime member of the Rochester Country Club. He was an avid sportsman enjoying fishing, boating, hunting, playing pool and bowling. Golfing was his passion having won a club championship and a runner up in the State AM. A great accomplishment of his was skiing with his grandchildren at the age of 80. His motto was to work hard and play hard.

Members of his family include his wife of 63 years, Doris (Gray) Caplette; son, David Caplette and life partner, Deb Smith of Rochester; daughter, Diane Grassett and life partner, Gary Philpott of Somersworth; grandchildren, Geoffrey Grassett of Barrington, Jillian Grassett of Manchester and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Adrian Roulx, his siblings, Romeo and Hervey Caplette, Antionette Shatford and Rose Murray.
