ROCHESTER - Police say a man who tried to stop two men from getting into his locked vehicle overnight was then dragged by the suspects’ car as they fled the scene.

Police responded to the area of Sofield Apartments on Rochester Hill Road around 1 a.m. on Saturday after they got a call about an attempted vehicle break-in.

Police said the owner confronted the suspects and tried to keep them from getting away leading to a brief altercation before the owner was dragged a short distance.

The victim was said to have received what were described as minor injuries, but refused medical treatment.

The suspects, who are described as white, fled in a dark-colored sedan.

Police are asking the public to lock their vehicles and remove valuables that may be in view due to an increase in thefts from motor vehicles.

They also urged the public not to approach anyone if caught in the act of the theft and call the Rochester Police Department to report the incident.

Anyone with information on Saturday’s incident is asked to call Officer Justin Worthley at 603-330-7128 or call in an anonymous tip on the Rochester Crime Line at 603-335-6500 or text TEXT4CASH with the tip to CRIMES (274637). Cash rewards offered for information leading to an arrest.
