SANFORD - A quick-thinking hotel clerk averted a robbery Tuesday night in Sanford.

The incident began around 8:25 p.m. at the Super 8 Motel located at 1892 Main Street when a suspect walked in to the front desk, displayed a knife and demanded money.

The female clerk refused to cooperate with the male, locked herself in a backroom and called 911. The suspect fled from the area on foot.

The suspect was described as wearing a horizontal stripe dark blue and grey hoodie. During the robbery attempt, he kept hoodie close around his face while holding a silver-bladed knife.
