One injured in crash at Walgreen entrance

ROCHESTER - One man was injured in a two-car collision on Wednesday at the entrance to the South Main Street Walgreen’s.

The mishap occurred around 6:45 p.m. when police say it appears a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Tod Thone, 31, of Rochester, was heading southbound and turning into the store when he struck a Chrysler 300 headed northbound.

When the first officer arrived he observed that the Chrysler had fire coming from the engine compartment, but with help from bystanders, was able to put the fire out with fire extinguishers. 

The operator of the Chrysler, Adam Ackerson, 37, of Rochester, suffered what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries and was transported to Frisbie Hospital by Frisbie EMS.

Both vehicles suffered front-end damage and were towed from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
