Milton residents can now get burn permits online

MILTON - For the first time, this year Milton residents can now apply for and receive burn permits online.

Although, the system has been operating statewide for a couple years, 2016 is the first year Milton will participate in the program.

Milton property owners can now obtain their fire permit online at www.nhfirepermit.com. Once on the website Milton residents simply need to select Milton as their location and follow the prompts.

There is a $3 fee to obtain online permit, which goes to pay for the development of the program; neither the town nor the state receives any of the funds.

While property owners can obtain all types of fire permits online, they can still be obtained at the Central Station between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Milton Fire and Rescue also announced on their Facebook page that after discussion with State Forest Rangers they have decided to suspend mandatory inspections but reserve the right to initiate spot inspection on burn permits.

Residents are also reminded to abide by all open burning rules and regulations of the state of New Hampshire.
