In the Spirit of Earth Day on April 22, the Milton Public Works Department is participating in the N.H. the Beautiful Litter program. They will provide blue bags to the town to collect roadside trash for free in exchange for promoting the State’s Sponsor –a- Highway program.

The Milton Public Works staff will volunteer (unpaid) their time on Saturday, April 19, 9 a.m.-noon to assist volunteers in collecting roadside trash. We would like to stress this is for roadside trash only and when bags are distributed the teams will be assigned to pick up trash in order for it to be recycled.

This is not a trash pickup day. To thank the volunteers the Public Works Department will hold a cookout which will be a great opportunity to visit the facility and see the equipment. Most of the refreshments provided are donated by the local business community.

The Town of Milton has a mandatory recycling policy and the Town saves taxpayers a lot of money by recycling through NRRA programs and staff will be on hand to help educate the residents on how the program works.

Members of the community can get involved by signing in at 9 a.m. at the Clean-up Headquarters at the Public Works garage (803 White Mountain Highway) where roads will be assigned to volunteers and event bags will be distributed for cleanup to begin at 9:30.

The Public Works Department will pick up only the blue bags. Volunteers are invited back to the Public Works garage for the cookout at noon.

Refreshments will be provided for volunteers. Refreshments have been generously donated by over 30 local businesses. Please call the Milton Public Works Department at 652-9891 if you want to participate so we can plan for the refreshments.
