LEBANON - Susan Kimball of York, Maine, brought an array of goodies to Lebanon's 2nd Annual Green Love Celebration.

But these aren't your grandmother's goodies.

The confections and treats Kimball brought were cannabis edibles, and she said they are growing in popularity among medical marijuana users.

Kimball grows marijuana and makes the cannabis edibles for five clients, all of whom rely heavily on the edible homemade offerings she makes in her state licensed kitchen inside her York home.

"Edibles are becoming more popular, especially the lollipops," Kimball said on Saturday. "It's very convenient."

While employers might object to workers taking a break to smoke a joint, she said enjoying a cannabis lollipop or a piece of fudge draws no raised eyebrows.

Kimball, whose business is called Moose Budz, said the effect edibles have on a person's body are also much different than when smoking marijuana.

"It's more of a body effect, rather than a head effect," she said, noting the edibles are often used for pain maintenance and the length of time in which relief is felt can be four or five hours, all without making the patient feel "high."

Besides edibles, she also sells tinctures and salves, which contain cannabis, The salves have been used to treat severe headaches, even psoriasis, she said.

She said her edibles, tinctures and salves are made predominately with CBD strains, not THC, which is the active ingredient in marijuana that produces the "high."

Lebanon Green Love Celebration continues today at the corner of Center and Shapleigh roads. It is expected to end around 4 p.m.
