MILTON - Milton Fire and Rescue Chief Nick Marique told The Lebanon Voice today that he submitted to his Lebanon counterpart a draft agreement for a mutual aid pact between the two towns EMS providers on Monday night.

Marique said it would be premature to reveal details of the draft agreement as he hadn't heard back from Lebanon Fire and EMS Chief Dan Meehan on whether he approved of the proposal.

"I don't even know if he'll go along, so I'm not going to give any details," Marique said today.

The two towns' lack of a working mutual aid pact has been the subject of an ongoing series in The Lebanon Voice.

A section of West Lebanon, known as District 6, is far closer to the Milton ambulance than Lebanon's, leaving many residents in this area of Lebanon close to the Milton line uncomfortable with the lack of such a pact.

An email sent to Lebanon Fire and EMS public affairs officer Eric Neubert and a phone message left for Meehan were not immediately returned.
