ROCHESTER - Doris C. Caplette, 82, died on Monday September 29, 2014, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital.

Born December 21, 1931, in Grafton, she was a daughter of Clifton Gray and Dora (Bliss) Gray. She was one of 11 children and graduated from Farmington High School in 1949. Her last employment was with Kendall Insurance in Rochester where she had worked many years.

All who knew her understood how special a person she truly was. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon cancer in 1987 and miraculously survived. She was in total remission for 17 years until a new incidence arose and again kept that at bay for many years. A major stroke finally took her life.

Dottie was an avid golfer and was a member of the Rochester Country Club for over 50 years, was on several woman leagues and was a member of NHWGA. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling, roller-skating, skiing and boating.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred, of 63 years by 5 months on Easter Sunday. Members of her family are son; David Caplette and partner Deb Smith of Rochester; daughter, Diane Grassett and partner Gary Philpott of Somersworth; grandchildren, Geoffrey Grassett of Epping, Jillian Grassett of Manchester; sisters Ethel and husband Raymond Scruton of Rochester; Alice and husband Richard Taylor of Londonderry; Muriel and husband Roland Baxter of Rochester; sister in laws Thelma Gray of Farmington and Nancy Gray of Rochester and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings: Lucy Henderson, Ona Page, Arthur Gray, Warren Gray, John Gray, Roland Gray and Clyde Gray.
